George Bush opposes scientific advancement

Today in a speech, John Kerry talked about the "extreme ideology" of President Bush in regards to his opposition to the science of stem cell research. Kerry tried to make the point that President Bush is against scientific and technological advancement, saying "on one hand, he fights for corporate interests at the expense of the middle class. On the other hand, he has an extreme political agenda that slows instead of advances science. " He also said "You get the feeling that if George Bush had been President during other periods in American history, he would have sided with the candle lobby against electricity, the buggy-makers against cars, and typewriter companies against computers."

Interestingly, the following statement appears on Kerry's own site. Today, businesses are harnessing new technology to manufacture energy-efficient cars, high-grade steel, advanced plastics and other new products.

I'm very confused by all of this. Businesses are harnessing new technology, but President Bush is standing in the way of scientific advancement. Businesses are gearing up to produce new high-efficiency cars, yet President Bush would prefer horse-drawn carraiges. Businesses are producing new high-grade steel, yet President Bush has outsourced so many manufacturing jobs. Hugh?

In typical fashion, Kerry assumes that Americans are not smart enough to see him trying to advance both sides of an argument as legitimate complaints about the Bush administration. Kerry's usual rhetoric revolves around the big business interests of George Bush, but now all of a sudden, George Bush is against computer producers, automobile manufacturers, and electrical companies. What is clear to me is that most Americans who will vote for John Kerry really aren't smart enough to figure out how often he contradicts himself. John Kerry is dishing out lie after lie, and Democrat voters are all too eager to swallow them whole without thinking about what is being said to them.
