Geneva Convention

A common argument I hear from the left is that President Bush seems to be fighting the War on Terror by using "old" military strategy. Similar to the notion of how we tried fighting the Vietnam War with WW2 tactics. Since the left seems to want "new" strategies and methods for fighting the War on Terror, can we throw out the Geneva Convention?

After all, it seems pretty clear that we are not fighting people wearing uniforms representing specific countries and governments, so the question is begged. What relevance does the Geneva Convention still have in today's 21st century struggle between the nomadic islamo-fascist warriors and conventional armies like those of the US and UK?
