Flu vaccine shortage

Well, this season, America faces a shortage of flu vaccines. An English company produced a defective batch, and as a result, many Americans will have to face the winter without getting a dose of the vaccine. Some have proposed dilluting the available rations, while President Bush last night urged young and healthy Americans to go without so the more needy among us can receive a flu shot. Why didn't the President remind the American public of the real cause of the flu shortages? Why didn't he refresh our collective memories about the failed 'Vaccines for Children' program? Here's a piece by Rich Lowry discussing the economics of government plans and the inevitable results.
