Military/civil service draft

Forcing people into the military amounts to slavery. We don't have enough people in the military. What do we do? Pay could be raised, reenlistment bonuses could be expanded, entrance standards could be lowered, or the Congress of the United States could adopt a forced conscription policy. Personally, I am partial to the Swiss model, where every man of sound mind serves a brief term in various capacities. John Kerry has pledged to expand the Army by 2 divisions, as well as doubling the number of special forces. Given the mass exodus by soldiers when Bill Clinton came into office, this is sounding like another empty promise to me. After 9/11, are there really that many people waiting to sign up, just hoping Kerry gets elected? I seriously doubt it, but we'll know very soon...
